Los productos de polisulfuro de fenileno (PPS) ofrecen la más amplia resistencia química que cualquier plástico de ingeniería avanzado. Resisten solventes abajo de 392°F (200°C), no reaccionan al vapor, bases fuertes, combustibles y ácidos. Mínima absorción de humedad (ver figura 21) y un muy bajo coeficiente lineal de expansión térmica, combinado con el proceso de relevación de esfuerzos internos, hace a estos productos PPS idealmente adaptables para componentes maquinados de tolerancia muy precisa. Adicionalmente, los productos PPS exhiben excelentes características eléctricas y son inherentemente retardantes a la flama.
Éste producto es el más reconocido PPS. Es fabricado por moldeo por compresión y ofrece mayor estabilidad dimensional y desempeño térmico que el Techtron ® PPS además mantiene su resistencia a más de 425°F (220°C).
El Techtron ® HPV exhibe excelente resistencia al desgaste y un bajo coeficiente de fricción. Supera las desventajas del PPS virgen causadas por un alto coeficiente de fricción y de los PPS reforzado con fibra de vidrio, los cuales pueden causar desgaste prematuro de la contraparte en aplicaciones de piezas en movimiento.
