El Duratron PEI comúnmente es maquinado en piezas para dispositivos médicos reutilizables, instrumentación analítica, aisladores eléctricos/electrónicos (incluyendo muchos de los componentes de proceso de semiconductores) y una variedad de componentes estructurales que requieren alta resistencia y rigidez a temperaturas elevadas. MCAM ofrece Duratron U1000 PEI y Duratron U2300 PEI como productos estándar.
Es un polímero amorfo que ofrece alta resistencia y excelente resistencia térmica y a las flamas. Tiene un buen desempeño en trabajo continuo a temperaturas de hasta 340°F (170°C), haciéndolo ideal para aplicaciones de alta resistencia mecánica a alta temperatura, y para aquellas que requieren propiedades de consistencia dieléctrica en un amplio rango de frecuencias. Es resistente a la hidrólisis, altamente resistente a soluciones ácidas y capaz de soportar ciclos repetidos en autoclave.
Son versiones reforzadas con fibra de vidrio (10, 20, y 30%, respectivamente) del Duratron U1000 PEI proporciona una mayor rigidez y estabilidad dimensional mejorada mientras conserva muchas de sus útiles características básicas del Duratron U1000 PEI. El Duratron PEI cumple con las normatividades higiénicas de la FDA y USP clase VI. Los colores del Duratron PEI, compatibles con la FDA, también están disponibles sobre pedido.
